These instructions are for Armorsmith Designer 2.1.1.0. Earlier versions, including 2.1.0.10, can show different panels and labels.
The menu bar runs across the top of the Armorsmith Designer window. Use it to manage files, edit your avatar and costume parts, arrange panels, and find help. The tables group commands by purpose; availability depends on the selected object and view.

File menu

Use File to create, open, save, import, and export costume files and patterns. In builds with the costume storage overhaul, Save As defaults to .costume and also offers legacy .armor saves. Open and Merge show both formats by default. See Costume files for companion folders, published bundles, and legacy compatibility.

Avatar menu

Use Avatar to edit measurements and poses, load a custom model, and save avatar or pose files. A custom avatar with a skeleton created in Mixamo can be posed and have appropriate attachment points created for it. For a model without a skeleton, use Edit Pose to position the attachment points.

Edit menu

Use Edit to undo changes, manage selected objects, and work with pattern geometry. To join patterns with Join/Cut, select one edge and then a second edge. Use the arrow on the connecting join line to choose which pattern moves to the other. To separate pieces, click a connected edge.

View menu

Use View to frame objects, change the camera angle, and customize the workspace appearance.

Settings menu

Use Settings to change application preferences and the profile included with your costume files.

Window menu

Use Window to recover panels without closing the costume. Create 2D is replaced by the pattern view’s Create menu. The former separate Workspaces and Property Grid controls are now in Workbench. Use Browse → Patterns to organize drawings and Edit Foam → Layers for physical foam stacks.

Help menu

Use Help to find documentation, updates, support, and community resources.

Quick tips

  • Save often. Press Ctrl+S after meaningful changes. Do not rely on a backup alone; save the working costume deliberately.
  • Import first, position second. Use File → Import to bring in models, then fine-tune their placement with the Transform Panel.
  • Check for updates. Use Help → Check For Updates, then read the changelog to see what changed.
