Before you start
Open your saved costume and prepare an OBJ, STL, FBX, 3MF, PDO, or ADO you are allowed to edit. If you already imported the practice piece in the first tutorial, skip to the result checks below, or use another model to practise the dialog steps. Know one real dimension of the part. Keep any companion material and texture files with the source. This is the costume-part workflow. For a scan or body model, use custom body import.1. Choose the file and storage
- Choose File → Import.
- In Import a Model/PDO, select the file and click Open.
- For OBJ, STL, FBX, or 3MF, review Model import. Leave Include in costume selected for this first project. It stores the model with the costume.
- For OBJ, STL, or FBX, leave Review orientation before import checked and click Next: Review orientation. For this tutorial’s 3MF route, clear the checkbox and click Import, then continue to the organization choices below.
2. Review the orientation
- In Review orientation, compare Before and After.
- Select Front, Side, and Top under View: to inspect the part.
- Open Adjust orientation if necessary. Adjust X/Y/Z rotations or use the 180-degree Flip controls.
- Click Import with orientation to use the preview, or Import original to keep the source orientation.
3. Organize several models when needed
If one 3MF contains several models, Import 3MF Models offers:- Separate Workspaces for pieces you want to manage and attach independently.
- Merge into One Workspace for models you want together in one workspace.
- Cancel to stop that import.
4. Check the imported result
- Select the new workspace in Workspaces and open Workshop to inspect its model.
- Orbit and zoom to check its orientation and completeness.
- Activate Measure, click two known points, and compare the distance with your reference dimension. Check the orange target before clicking because it can snap to vertices.
- If size or orientation is wrong, correct the source and import again, or adjust the attached part with Scale/Rotate in the next tutorial.
- Choose File → Save.
