# Print patterns

> Check your pattern pages and print them at the correct size.

Once you have arranged your pattern pieces, check the page layout and print a test page before printing the full set. A printer scaling setting can change the size of every piece, so verify the printed result with a ruler.

## Prepare the pages

1. Review the pattern pieces in the 2D view. Make sure they are arranged on the pages you intend to print.
2. Select the workspace and expand **Display** in the Property Grid.
3. Turn on the details you need, such as **Show Page Numbers**, **Show Registration Marks**, **Show Edge Angles**, **Show Edge IDs**, **Show Solid Folds**, **Show Tabs**, or **Show Textures**.
4. Check any piece that sits near a page boundary. Use [Edit patterns](/patterns/pattern-layout) to move pieces or pack the layout again if needed.

  Turn on page numbers and registration marks before a multi-page print. They make it easier to identify and line up the sheets.

## Print a test page

    Click **Print** on the toolbar above the pattern view.

  <Step title="Check printer settings">
    Choose the printer and paper that match the pages you plan to use. In your printer settings, select **100%** or **Actual Size**. Disable options such as **Fit to Page** that resize the output.

  <Step title="Print and measure one page">
    Print a page containing a feature whose size you can check. Measure it with a ruler and compare it with the dimension shown in Armorsmith. If the measurements differ, correct the printer scaling settings before printing the rest.

  <Step title="Print the remaining pages">
    Once the test page measures correctly, print the rest of the layout. Keep the page numbers visible as you sort and assemble the sheets.

  Printer scaling can make an otherwise correct pattern too large or too small. Check the size on paper before cutting your material.

## After printing

Lay out the sheets in page order and use the printed registration marks, when enabled, to align adjoining pages. Confirm that matching edges and fold details are visible before cutting the pieces.
