# Fit and Mirror a Pair of Armor Pieces

> Attach a bracer, position and scale it, create its linked mirror, and inspect clearance in several poses.

Fit one bracer to your avatar, create its opposite-side mirror, and check both pieces in a neutral stance and a bent-arm pose. The same procedure works for paired shoulder pads or greaves.

## Before you start

Use a [measured avatar](/getting-started/measure-avatar) and an [imported bracer workspace](/getting-started/import-first-model). Save the costume before making fitting changes. Choose a roughly neutral pose through **Avatar → Change Pose**.

## 1. Attach and position the bracer

1. Select the bracer in **Workspaces** and click **Attach**.
2. Move the ghosted preview to the avatar's forearm attachment point and click that point.
3. Select the attached bracer in the Costume viewport or **Attachment Tree**.
4. Click **Translate** and drag its axis handles to position it. Click **Rotate** and use the rotation handles to align it with the forearm.
5. Orbit around the arm. Check the wrist and elbow openings rather than judging only the front view.

**Check:** The bracer appears under an attachment point in the Attachment Tree. If it is attached to the wrong region, right-click it in that tree and use **Move Part** to choose the correct point.

## 2. Adjust its size and inspect clearance

1. Select the bracer and open the **Scale** controls in **Transforms**.
2. Set **Scale Mode** to **Percentage**. Enable **Uniform Scale** for a broad size adjustment; on an initially unscaled part, changing 100% to 105% makes it larger.
3. If only one dimension needs adjustment, disable **Uniform Scale** and change one axis at a time. Check **Transform Mode** before using local or world directions.
4. In the selected attachment's **Property Grid**, check **Thickness** against the material you intend to use. This setting is shared by attachments from the same source workspace.
5. Click **Fit Checker** above the Costume viewport and wait for preparation to finish.

In **Fit Check**, set **Color range** to **20 mm** for a consistent first comparison. Red indicates estimated distance at or below material thickness; green begins at thickness plus the range. The range changes display colors, not the part's size. Adjust placement and scale, then let the colors update.

## 3. Create the opposite-side mirror

1. Select the original bracer and focus the Costume viewport.
2. Press **Shift+M**, or enable **Mirror** in the Property Grid.
3. Inspect the reflected bracer on the opposite forearm.
4. Adjust the original to update the linked pair. Use **Edit → Undo** if you want to reverse the mirror command.

**Check:** There are two bracers, and editing the original updates its partner. If you need different geometry or independent placement on the two sides, attach separate parts instead of a linked mirror.

## 4. Check a pose and save

1. Choose **Avatar → Edit Pose**. Select an appropriate joint and use Translate, or select a bone and use Rotate, to bend the arm slightly.
2. Leave Edit Pose when finished. Re-enable **Fit Checker** if changing modes turned it off.
3. Check body clearance and look directly for contact between neighboring pieces. Fit Checker does not test part-to-part collisions.
4. Choose **Avatar → Reset Pose** to return to the default pose, then save the costume.

**Result:** You have a fitted linked pair and have reviewed a second pose. This visual check does not simulate straps or guarantee comfortable movement; make a physical test before final fabrication.

If both pieces move unexpectedly, check that you selected the original and that Mirror is enabled. If the shape needs a local change, continue with [FFD fitting](/getting-started/reshape-helmet). For another body source, try [a custom avatar](/getting-started/custom-body).
